|Grant Funding From Lakewood Township|
As part of the Community Block Grant (CBG) funding program; each year the Lakewood Township Council supports local charities in their mission to serve the community. On 21 September 2010 representatives from Community Lighthouse joined a host of other local charities and received generously from Mayor Langert and the CBG committee. Community Lighthouse will use the funding to make much needed improvements in the House of Blessing facility. These funds are being used to help add 600 sqft of work area and food storage space to the pantry. The food pantry is open 5 days a week and serves nearly 500 families a month. During these trying economic times the need is greater than ever before to help those in need.
In addition to providing food and clothing to the needy as well as ESL services; Community Lighthouse is eager to assist the poor at their point of need. Early in 2011 we will launch a Women's Health Awareness Program to help combat some of the devastating issues that plague the women in our community. Other similar programs such as Prevention of Childhood Obesity are being considered.
The Community Lighthouse leadership would like to thank the Lakewood Township Council for their generous support as well as all the many volunteers that makes this organization a success.
