Grant Funding From Lakewood Township PDF Print E-mail

As part of the Community Block Grant (CBG) funding program; each year the Lakewood Township Council supports local charities in their mission to serve the community.  On 21 September 2010 representatives from Community Lighthouse joined a host of other local charities and received generously from Mayor Langert and the CBG committee.  Community Lighthouse will use the funding to make much needed improvements in the House of Blessing facility.  These funds are being used to help add 600 sqft of work area and food storage space to the pantry.  The food pantry is open 5 days a week and serves nearly 500 families a month.  During these trying economic times the need is greater than ever before to help those in need.

For each pound of weight loss pledged at the Pound for Pound website, General Mills will donate a pound of food to your local food bank.

On behalf of the House of Blessing (HOB) we accept clothing that is clean and in good repair every day of the week.  Clothing can be dropped off at 1133 East County Line Road in Lakewood.  There is a drop box on the west side of the parking lot near the HOB Food Pantry.

Please do not leave items on the ground near the drop box or building.  It is our desire to keep the area around our facilities safe, clean and free of debris. lothing donations are needed by many low-

Pockets should be emptied and any belts should be securely fastened to their appropriate items.

Metro Jersey District Presents Grant to Community Lighthouse

On behalf of the UPS Foundation, Air Division Manager Orlando Rodriguez presented a check in the amount of $21,630 to the Community Lighthouse.

 

The Community Lighthouse was founded in the early 1980’s and was established as a non-profit social enterprise in 2006. Community Lighthouse exists to extend charitable acts and provide a host of developmental community services. They currently distribute food, clothing, personal care items, toys and baby items. They have been a member of the Food bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties since 1987.

 

Four times a week, the Community Lighthouse opens its doors and serves over 550 families a month in its food and clothing pantry. It is the largest food pantry in Ocean County. Most families come through referrals from Social Services.
